GATE 2019 Paper Analysis- GATE 2019 Aspirants can take help of GATE previous year paper analysis for preparation. This will help them in knowing important topics and difficulty level of the paper. Last year GATE was conducted for 23 paper codes, Petroleum Engineering was the new entrant . In all papers Engineering Mathematics and General Aptitude section were common. Paper code ME, EC, EE, CE and CS questions were comparatively difficult than other paper codes. More than 1 lakh candidates appeared for these streams.
So, competition level particularly for these streams is quite high. Candidates can check GATE 2017 and 2016 paper analysis for all the major streams. All important topics along with their weightage and level of difficulty is provided below.
GATE 2017 for Mechanical Engineering was already conducted on February 4, 2017. Candidates can check out the GATE 2017 ME analysis. We will update analysis for all the paper codes as after the exam wil be conducted.
Mechanical Engineering (ME) Paper Analysis
Mechanical Engineering paper was conducted on February 4, 2017 in 2 sessions. The number of conceptual questions were more than calculation based questions. Also, 1 mark questions were quite easy to attempt. The number of questions, the marks they carry and the level of difficulty from each section is mentioned below:

Mechanical Engineering paper was conducted on January 30, 2016 and January 31, 2016 in 3 sessions.The number of conceptual questions were more than calculation based questions. Analysis
- Questions aimed at testing mathematical skills of the candidate were a 17% of the total questions asked
- General Aptitude section had a total of 10 questions carrying 15 marks. 50% of the questions carried 1 mark each and the remaining 5 questions carried 2 marks each
- The questions in Thermodynamics, Manufacturing Engineering and Mechanics of Materials were difficult as compared to other sections
- Mathematics was also easier than the previous year
- Fluid Mechanics section carried 9marks and was not easy to crack
- Few questions were asked from the new syllabus
- Paper wasn’t difficult for the candidates who prepared well for the GATE 2016 exam

The exam was held in one session only. Out of a total of 65 questions, there were 30 questions that carried 1 mark and 35 questions carrying 2 marks. GATE 2015 Electrical Engineering (EE) Paper
In the GATE 2015 paper, there were 30questions carrying 1mark each while 2 marks questions were 35in number. The paper is served to test the understanding of basic concepts and the subject on whole. About 15questions were theoretical and 20questions were straight forward and concept based Questions in Machines topic were mainly from on DC Machines. Questions from Power system topic were a tough nut to crack and required critical thinking before answering.

GATE 2015 Computer Science and Information Technology (CS)
There are 30questions carrying 1-mark and 35questions carrying 2-marks. The paper is less difficult as compared to last year. Numerical questions were less in number. No change in pattern was observed. Questions of General Aptitude were relatively easy. There were a total 45MCQs and 20fill in the blanks questions. - A total of 10 questions were from Data Structure and Algorithms topic
- 15 questions are from Engineering Mathematics topic

GATE 2017exam will be conducted through online mode under various paper codes as per the schedule. 15% of the total marks are allotted to questions based on general aptitude of a student while the remaining 85% marksare allotted to the questions meant to check the subject knowledge and conceptual understanding of the candidates. For the first time in the history of GATE exam, virtual scientific calculator will be provided to the candidates for their convenience.
The queson papers of all the paper codes comprise of 65 questions carrying 100 marks. Out of the 65 questions, 10 questions of general aptitude carried 15 marks. The remaining 55 questions are from the concerned subject and will carry 85 marks. As per GATE 2017 Exam Pattern, the question paper consists of both objective (MCQ) and subjective (Numerical Answer Questions) questions. MCQ questions have negative marking while Numerical Answer Questions have no negative marking.

The GATE 2017 Result mentions the scores obtained by the candidates in the examination. The marks obtained by the candidates are calculated using the formula for the normalised marks. The maximum and minimum marks obtained by candidates in GATE 2016 is given in the table below:
